LPG Cylinder Prices – Starting May 1, 2025, oil marketing companies in India have slightly reduced the prices of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinders across major cities. If you are a household consumer using the regular 14.2 kg cylinder, the price remains unchanged for now. So, while commercial users are seeing a minor relief, domestic consumers will continue to pay the same as last month.
What’s the Latest on LPG Prices?
For commercial users, the price of the 19 kg LPG cylinder has been reduced by about 14 to 17 rupees depending on the city. After this latest revision, prices are a bit more manageable in metros. For example, in Mumbai, the 19 kg cylinder now costs slightly below 1,700 rupees, whereas in Chennai, it still hovers above 1,900 rupees.
This reduction follows the earlier cut in April when prices for the same commercial cylinder dropped by over 40 rupees. However, in mid-April, there was a ₹50 hike across all types of cylinders, including the ones under government schemes like Ujjwala Yojana.
What About the 14.2 Kg Domestic Cylinder?
Unfortunately, there’s no good news on that front. The price of the 14.2 kg cylinder, used by most households for cooking, stays unchanged in May. This comes after the 50 rupee increase in mid-April.
Here’s a quick look at current prices for the 14.2 kg domestic cylinder:
- Delhi: Rs 853
- Kolkata: Rs 879
- Mumbai: Rs 852.50
- Chennai: Rs 868.50
So, if you were expecting a price drop this month, you’ll have to wait a little longer.
A Quick Word About Indane
Indane, a product of IndianOil, has grown into one of the largest LPG brands in the world. It’s recognized for being safe, reliable, and convenient. It offers different sizes of cylinders to cater to various needs. While the 14.2 kg and 5 kg cylinders are mainly for home use, there are larger options like the 19 kg and 47.5 kg meant for hotels, businesses, and industrial use.
IndianOil has also introduced new fibre composite cylinders of 5 kg and 10 kg, which are lightweight and come with a modern translucent look. These are perfect for people who prefer portable and compact options.
Another addition is the small 2 kg LPG cylinder known as “Munna.” This tiny cylinder is especially useful for people like students, working women, migrant workers, and street vendors—basically anyone with limited cooking needs or space. The idea is to provide cooking gas access even to those who don’t have a permanent address or big storage areas.
Want to Apply for a New LPG Connection?
Getting a new Indane LPG connection has become easier than ever. If you don’t have a gas connection at home, you can apply for one from the nearest Indane distributor.
Here’s how you can go about it:
Eligibility:
Any Indian citizen who has a separate kitchen area at home and doesn’t already have an LPG connection can apply.
Required Documents:
You’ll need ID and address proof. Some accepted documents include:
- Aadhaar Card
- PAN Card

Do note: In states like Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, having a ration card is mandatory to get a new connection.
How to Apply
Visit your nearest distributor and fill out the registration form. Once your documents are verified, you’ll receive an intimation letter by post. Bring that letter back to the distributor, and you’ll get your LPG connection.
Before installation, make sure you have a hotplate with an ISI mark (conforming to IS:4246) and a safety hose that meets IS:9573 standards. These are required for a safe and proper LPG setup.
While the price drop in the 19 kg commercial cylinder is a small relief for businesses and large-scale users, the unchanged price of the 14.2 kg domestic cylinder will continue to impact household budgets. Still, it’s worth noting that India continues to offer one of the most extensive and accessible LPG networks in the world, with newer and more compact options being introduced to reach every corner of the country.
If you’re someone looking to switch or apply for a new LPG connection, Indane has made it pretty straightforward. And with options like the Munna cylinder, even low-consumption users can enjoy clean cooking fuel.
